Last Call for Meatout 2004 Registration Meatout Mondays Gains New Website CHOICE Urges CA & NY Veg School Options Congratulations to Sabina Award Recipients AR 2004 Conference UpdateEarly registration rate for the Animal Rights 2004 national conference ends on Monday, March 1. Please visit http://www.mailermailer.com/rd?http://www.ar2004.org and don't be left out of this special election year event. The conference will be held
on July 8-12 at the Sheraton Premiere Hotel in Vienna, VA, just outside
the Washington Beltway. This facility is larger than our previous ones and
offers reduced room rates and more amenities, including free dog beds. A
thousand participants are expected. The program structure will be
similar to those of past years, but more punchy, allowing more time for
socializing and networking. The program will begin with the opening
reception and plenary on Thursday evening and close with the Sunday
evening banquet. A number of post-conference activities including
lobbying, demonstrations, seminars, and special interest meetings are
planned by several groups for Monday, July 12. Join thousands of caring people in all 50
states and around
the world by hosting a Meatout event in your area. Meatout provides a special opportunity
to get your friends, neighbors, and co-workers to save thousands of
animals, without engaging in awkward
arguments.
No, it's not too late to get started. Three people can arrange a cooking
demonstration in a community hall or church in three days. Two people can
set up an information table in a high-traffic area in two days. One person
can put up a library exhibit in one day. Anyone can pick up some veggie
hot dogs or lunch "meats" at the local supermarket on the way to work and
put up them up in the lunch room with a Meatout poster and
literature.
Please visit http://www.mailermailer.com/rd?http://www.meatout.org to register your event, even if your plans are not yet finalized. This will enable us to send you posters, banners, and handouts and to post your event on the meatout website for local media and activists. Don't let the animals down on this special
day!
Why just send a greeting card, when you can sign up your friends to receive Meatout Mondays, a colorful weekly e-mail containing veg recipes, new dietary developments and products, and an inspirational message. If you provide a mailing address, we will also send a free Vegetarian Starter Kit to help them kick the meat habit! CHOICE Promotes Vegan School Lunches in CA and NYIIn the past few months, our CHOICE (Consumers for Healthy Options In Children's Education) has witnessed some remarkable breakthroughs. Last year, the California Legislature enacted a resolution recommending that that schools offer a daily vegetarian option to each child. Shortly thereafter, the huge Los Angeles Unified School District made this mandatory. The CHOICE team, working with In Defense of Animals, is now helping other California school districts achieve similar breakthroughs. The CHOICE Team is working with the Animal Welfare Trust to enact a similar legislative resolution in the State of New York. To get involved, visit http://www.mailermailer.com/rd?http://www.choiceusa.net or contact Susan at info@choiceusa.net or 877-6CHOICE Congratulations to last year's 70+ grassroots recipients of Sabina Fund Awards.
