First Annual Bite Global Warming Day a Success

Caring people around the U.S. got active for the launch of Bite Global Warming Day on August 18th, educating their communities about the role of meat production in the global warming crisis.

FARM supplied volunteers with Event Packs containing “Stop Global Warming” posters and colorful handouts. The handouts cite the 2006 UN Report, which found that meat production contributes more to global warming than autos and offers free Veg Starter Kits & weekly recipes.

More than 10,000 handouts were distributed at nearly 80 events throughout the U.S. In the nation’s capital, FARM hosted a feed-in and leafleting event at two locations.

Bite Global Warming Day is a highlight of FARM’s Bite Global Warming Campaign that employs billboards, posters, T-shirts, postcards, letters to the editor, and the Internet to explain the connection between meat and global warming. The campaign MySpace page now boasts 9,500 friends!

Our next outreach opportunity in the campaign is leafleting at the recent release of Leonardo DiCaprio’s new film, The 11th Hour.

Join the World Farm Animals Day Action

Scores of communities throughout the U.S. and two dozen other countries are planning their World Farm Animals Day event on or around October 2 (Gandhi's birthday)!

This year's featured event is a cage-in, where activists are confined in cages to make a strong statement about the way animals are imprisoned in factory farms. It's a great media photo opportunity.

Other events include die-ins, funeral marches, video screenings, lectures, feed-ins, and even info tables, library exhibits and leafleting. Visit our Action Center for event ideas and guidance.

Make sure that your community is represented in this global effort! Plan an event now if your community is not listed in our Events Directory.

We provide free display and handout materials, instructions, international registry, and media liaison. You provide a few hours and a lot of heart.

Please visit our WFAD website soon to register your interest and download an
