In India and Kenya, the awards were made to coalitions of smaller groups because of the large number of proposals received. The
Sabina Fund was launched in 1999 to honor
FARM President Alex Hershaft's mother who had passed
away three years earlier.
Please visit the Sabina Fund website, make a generous contribution, and/or recommend a worthy project or group before October 31st. Remember the Animals on Independence Day

FARM Heroes This space features key supporters of FARM and the animal rights movement.
Gretchen
Wyler left a successful Broadway
musical career in the late 1960s to dedicate
her life
to the animals. She served on the Board
of ASPCA and the Fund For Animals until
1991, when she founded the Ark Trust. In 1986, she
launched the Genesis Awards, rewarding contributions
to animal protection by media & entertainment
industries. Gretchen was an early supporter
of FARM, attending our first conference in 1981,
then starring in our first fundraising event
in Los Angeles. She was elected to the U.S. Animal
Rights Hall of Fame by speakers at the Animal
Rights 2005 National Conference. On Sunday,
May 27th, Gretchen
lost her battle with breast cancer. We and the animals will miss her terribly.
Andrea Carvalho joined the FARM staff a year ago. She serves as Database Manager, produces our colorful weekly Meatout Mondays e-newsletter, and manages the FARM/AR exhibits at our conferences. Andrea was active in Brazil's vegetarian and environmental movements and became a vegan at the World Vegetarian Congress in 2004. What is FARM FARM is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) public interest group advocating a vegan diet to reduce animal suffering and environmental devastation and to improve public health. Please visit our website to learn about our national programs. FARM is supported by donations from caring folks like you. Your donations go directly to support our programs because we raise our own funds. Our overhead is below 5% because our staffers receive reduced or no compensation.
