Animal Rights 2005 Headed for SelloutThe Animal Rights 2005 National Conference at the Los Angeles Westin LAX hotel is headed for a sellout. The host hotel has no more rooms left, and we are attempting to set up a room block in a nearby hotel. As a courtesy to Campaign Updates subscribers, we have extended the discounted $120 registration rate to May 31. A limited number of low-income discounts and work scholarships are still available. We have also launched a Lodging Board, to assist you with room-sharing and baby/dog sitting arrangements, as well as a Travel Board, to assist you in forming carpools.
The Conference program will be organized along the traditional Problems/Issues, Organizing, Tactics, Rap/Reports, and Video tracks. It will feature 90 exhibits, Newcomer Orientation, Employment Clearinghouse, Group Workouts, Networking Receptions, and Awards Banquet. Key speakers signed up thus far include Lorri Bauston, Theo Capaldo, Lawrence Carter-Long, Karen Davis, Karen Dawn, Tippi Hedren, Alex Hershaft, Steve Hindi, Kevin Jonas, Elliot Katz, Howard Lyman, Anthony Marr, Michael Mountain, Martin Rowe, Jerry Vlasak, Paul Watson, and Persia White. Be there for the animals and bring your friends! Register online or call 1-888-FARMUSA. Earth Day Vegetarian Outreach a Success
FARM distributed 10,000 colorful "Saving Our Planet" handouts at dozens of Earth Day events across the U.S. The cards explained the devastating impacts of meat and dairy production on forests and other wildlife habitats, on water supplies, and on air quality. Please visit our literature request page to receive a pack of cards. Visit our Veggies for Ecology website for more information. Vegan Message Hits Highways
Bus Card In the past two months, FARM has placed several hundred bus cards and billboards advocating vegan eating in major metropolitan areas throughout the U.S. Displays in Baltimore, Dallas, Denver, Eugene, Hartford, Los Angeles, New Haven, Oakland, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Tampa, Vancouver, and Washington, DC, carry the vegetarian message to millions.
Billboard Billboards are a powerful vehicle for opening the eyes, minds, and hearts of American consumers to the tragedy of animal agriculture and the huge benefits of plant-based eating. Unlike newspaper ads or TV spots, they are seen by commuters every day for a month or more. They are a key component of our national grassroots education campaigns and bring in many requests for vegetarian starter kits. Because we are able to get the advertising space donated, all we have to cover is the cost of printing, shipping, and posting — a mere $250 per billboard. Meatout Mondays makes eating veg easy and convenient. Share this wonderful resource with your friends and loved ones! Click here to sign them up.
